Well, what can I say! The last few weeks have been challenging but also a wonderful experience, I can't say I have relaxed as yet. We have come across many wild animals from a venomous snake slithering through the camp site right under our noses, spiders attaching themselves to our belongings, Dingo's howling through the night, Camels shading themselves under trees, lizards sunning themselves on the road, Kangaroos, Emus running through the outback and birds of prey feeding on road kill.
Forget about clean clothes and regular showers, not happening here. It's been constant driving and camp set ups, the maximum time we have spent in one place is 4 days. The aim is to get to the coast and relax there. We are hoping to swim with the whale sharks, snorkel and just wind down..
I have had my moments where I have freaked out, for example when I was trying to cook and insects were attacking me and landing in our dinner to when Sam left the tent fly screen open and our bed was infested with every type of bug and beetle from the outback, actually I really lost it then. But all good it's an experience and that's just how it is, I just took a breather and got on with it. I realise not many people will ever get to do this and probably could not do it. Australia's landscape is vast, diverse and ever changing from extreme hardness to extremely beautiful, very difficult to explain.
We have seen some amazing places, entering the Simpson desert on the top of big red was mind blowing, first glimpse of Ayers Rock as we were driving towards it was WOW....Kings Canyon very special place, glad I did the 6.5km walk.
Over all I am grateful that I have been able to share this experience with my family and learn more about Oz as I am terrible with geography...
Love to all and see you soon!
