Bourke and Wills "The Dig Tree"

This is where Bourke & Wills perished at the dig tree. If your not familiar with Australian history, B&W set off on an expedition in 1860 to travel from South to North across the continent by camels. the expedition came to an end as they both perished here.  The tree with Bourke's face was created by some bloke, I can't remember his name lol.  However the markings on there were original.  I'm not one for geography or Oz history but I must say I'm learning a bit, some interesting some not so interesting.

When we left this place, that was the start of our car troubles.....

Old Strzelecki track

We came across this dried up lake 95 km from Cameron's Corner the photo does not do it any justice.  We were driving on Strzelecki Road and as we drove over a crest there was this vast dried up lake, absolutely amazing to see, something you see on documentaries.

Cooper Creek

Here are some photos of a lovely camp site on the Cooper!

Mission to find the sun!

Well the last few days have been an experience. We have had no reception hence the reason we are posting a few things today.  When we first headed off it was still quite cool in the mornings and fresh days. Our mission was to find the sun and we sure did but the flies came with it Lol.  Just before we hit Broken Hill the clouds disappeared and the sun was shining.

We have been driving through some interesting towns, people have been friendly and love to chat, I was bailed up by this old man in a visitor centre and he just wanted to chat all day.

Outback Australia is amazing, the land is so harsh yet beautiful  it has been an eye opener for me in many ways.  The roads are so harsh and the land so vast, many creeks, water holes and lakes are dried up, water is so so so important to have with you.  I know (Ange) have always taken that for granted.  We have not stopped it has been full on setting up camp and organising things, I really cannot say I have relaxed yet.

Stefan has been so good and really loving nature, he has loved seeing Kangaroos, Emus, Lizards, Eagles and Camels to name a few, in their element.  We actually met a couple today travelling for five months on camels across Australia, unbelievable.

Today we arrived in Birdsville QLD, which was a relief as our car really struggled on the roads, the exhaust dump pipe flange snapped and Steve got a flat tyre, I'm sure we may have a few of those.

Tonight I'm hoping I have a shower forget about showers every day, maybe every two to three days.  We have camped in a nice spot by a creek and that will be my shower water....

Blue Sky's and cool nights and lot of stars!

We have hit the Out Back

After leaving Boundary Bend, we headed to Mungo National Park, didn't stay in the park due to no fires or dogs.  So camped out side the park zone which was Much better,  I'm not a fan of rules. We   saw the walls of china  and 25,000 year old aboriginals  foot prints oldest on earth, would have loved to had done guided tour, but no time.

From Mungo we headed to Pooncarie to camp for the night, but couldn't find a decent place to camp so moved on to Meninde to spend the night.

Day 1 - Boundary Bend - 370kmh from Melbourne

Awoke to an early start this morning, we are so ready for this trip!  We are exhausted with the last minute running around and are eager to just do absolutely nothing but enjoy our surroundings.

Arrived at Boundary Bend at around 3pm today and it took us an hour and a half to set up camp...what a drainer that was.  I suppose it will get easier.
