It's over

A very very very big drive, 24 hours from Border Village just over WA border to Melbourne
We left Geraldton WA Sunday 9am and got home to Melbourne at 9am Wednesday to this!
Morning sun rise
And then this!

I would like to thank my family for an unforgettable time, it's something I will never forget.  To live on the road in a Toyota hilux and see hard and extreme out back to beautiful gorges and spectacular beaches and abundance of wild life.

This trip ticked a lot of boxes including 4x4 driving in some of the hardest tracks Australia has to offer, thanks again to all the people that helped with getting the car ready.

The Hilux did it with ease I am impressed with it and can say its a tough truck, when you think about what we put it through.  It ran well and no break downs a bad wield on the after market exhaust was the only fault.
Lovells suspension - excellent
Good year tyres - excellent
The hilux  just worked a treat all the modifications and including the hot water shower all worked well.

The great Australian Bight

We drove till dark and made camp in the dark, we knew we were close to cliffs off the great Australian Bight in South Australia, but how close...
Not to close now Stefan
The weather has been the best 9 weeks of sun sun sun and no rain..

Last night in the west

Ok we put a big one in today Stefan and I we drove from  southen cross WA to boarder village in SA
My wing man
The longest straight road in Oz
As we drive east into SA we see the last sun set in WA

Coming to an end!

We always wish holidays can continue for just a little longer :), however for some reason they have to end.  I'm (Ange) flying home on Tuesday evening and Sam & Stefan are going to drive straight home from Geraldton. Sam will continue blogging on his journey home.

We have had an amazing time and can't wait for our next trip.   We will be making some changes to the camping arrangements :), still camping but have decided a roof top tent does not suit us, especially when Stefan almost fell off the ladder in the middle of the night going to the toilet.  Sam is considering a slide on but I will have to check it out lol.

There is so much to see in Oz that we didn't get to do everything we would have liked.  The next trip we hope to include, Kimberley's, Broome and Darwin and not go up the hard way.

Love to all and speak soon! xx

Ok it's Stefan, me (Sam) and the dog, Piper on our way home.  My plan is to continue driving and not stop at places of interest, in order to get back in 4 days.  I don't want Ange to miss out (Ange has flown home) on the sights as we will have to do it again in the future across the Nullarbor.
Hoping  there's a tail wind as we head South to Norseman, aiming to get to Southern Cross on day 1, let's see how we go.
Camped at a Pipeline that run for ages
Not the best looking camp spot but it's free

This is camp just past southen cross

Coronation beach

Drummonds Cove

Exploring & four wheel driving!

Headed to a camp spot called Coronation Beach which is about 25km North of Geraldton, beach was nice but we found the beaches near by were more beautiful and the sand dunes heaps of fun.

We did come across an interesting situation that none of us were expecting.  The picture below will reveal what I mean and let me tell you Stefan was horrified as he was sitting in the front seat....

Yes that is a naked man and my brother in-law actually stopped and chatted with him, I didn't know where to look.  He was polishing his car as you do.....naked.  LOL

Stefan's foot print...
